Requirements
To compete in the University of Miami Three Minute Thesis Competition applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:
- Active graduate student in good academic standing
- During Fall 2024 and Spring 2025, enrolled in a doctoral or master's degree program that requires an ETD (i.e., Electronic Thesis and Dissertation; see https://www.grad.miami.edu/electronic-thesis-and-dissertation/index.html).
- Admitted to Candidacy (doctoral students only)
- Sufficiently advanced in their thesis/dissertation by the end of the Fall 2024 semester to be able to discuss the findings and implications of their work
Competitors should note that some schools/colleges host their own qualifying rounds to select their representative for the University-wide competition. After applying to be a competitor you may be contacted regarding qualifying round information. It should also be noted that eligibility criteria to compete in subsequent state or regional 3MT® competitions may vary, influencing a participant’s ability to participate in those competitions.
